At Crowdy Bay Eco Resort, we believe everything is interconnected – which is why our aim is to create a sustainable business model that focuses on both financial performance and environmental responsibility. We are investing in innovative technologies to reduce our carbon footprint and achieve 100% sustainable operations by 2023. This includes introducing a solar plant, more tanks for water collection, and transitioning to 100% digital in-house operations. By making these changes, we hope to build a brighter, greener future for everyone.

Our team takes pride in purchasing resources with minimal environmental impact. Our soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and cleaning products are not just safer for you but for our world as well! We care about the environment, so we select products that are both effective and kind to the planet. Our products are GE/GMO, cruelty-free, and come from CarbonZero-certified factories with renewable sugar plastic packaging. Rather than using petrochemicals, we opt for biodegradable plant and mineral-based ingredients, making them compatible with septic tanks and greywater systems. Together, let’s create a healthier, greener future!
LIVING RESPONSIBLY AT THE RESORT
We want to bring the farm to the table! Our guests can currently pick from an array of herbs to add to their meals, but by the end of 2023, we’ll have a whole variety of vegetables for our chefs and guests to enjoy!
We’re committed to providing a paddock-to-plate approach, including taking care of the disposal afterwards. To ensure our resort is as sustainable as possible, we’ve installed a Sub Pod compost bin, an in-ground compost system and worm farm. Compost worms and microbes turn all the materials we feed them (like food scraps and paper) into rich compost that feeds our garden soil and helps the plants thrive.
We’re doing our part to reduce plastic waste by using bioplastic materials for our café’s packaging. In the future, we plan to incentivise our customers to bring their own mugs with discounts on their orders and go completely reusable with crockery and cutlery!

SUSTAINABILITY & DURABILITY OUTDOORS
Our resort is taking sustainability to the next level with our composite decking! All our decks are made with Ekodeck, a product that excels in all aspects from sustainability to longevity and durability. Plus, it‘s an environmentally conscious choice, as it‘s made from sustainable materials during production, reducing landfill and waste timber. And, all Ekodeck boards contain at least 80% recycled timber and HDPE, with the Classic range even containing over 90% recycled materials!
Our founder has been thinking of it all! Did you know that all our stepping stones, retaining walls, and garden beds are made from recycled railway tracks, hardwood, and sandstone blocks? Not only do these materials provide an aesthetic feature, but their use is also an environmentally conscious movement in support of our Eco Resort. Sandstone is an especially eco–friendly building material, using a third of the carbon footprint to produce, and requiring only a fraction of the energy of man–made stone such as concrete or brick. Additionally, our recycled railway track timbers are not only more resilient than timber, but they also have a much lower carbon intensity than concrete!
Our roads are constructed from EcoRaster, a revolutionary solution to monitor what enters our waterways and catchments. Whether it‘s heat, stormwater, or pollutants, Ecoraster is designed to improve the function of our surfaces with its tested and proven solution. Not only is it made from 100% recycled materials, but it‘s also produced in an ISO9001 certified facility with an environmentally neutral rating. With its low cost and permeable plastic grid paving solution, you know you‘re doing your part to help save the planet!
